Clovis Trouille

Born in France in 1889, he enters the art college of Amiens (on 1905 - 1910), and becomes painter an illustrator. His amazing free painting, close to surrealists is pointed out in 1930 by André Breton. Trouille then went away from this current by claiming his influences from the Renaissance. He's not well known because he did not look for the glory. He painted during his leisure activities. His paintings are mainly about anticlericalism and the antimilitarism also returns frequently. He had been traumatized by the First World war. He defined himself as an anarchist. His work comes directly from from the popular culture and from the kitch. He died in 1975. Some of his works are shown at the museum of Picardy of Amiens.
