Maurice Tillieux - Gil Jourdan

Maurice Tillieux was born in 1922 in Belgium and died from a car accident in 1978. He published his first drawing in Le Moustique in 1936 and worked for Spirou in 1940 and 1941. He created Gil Jourdan in 1956 in Spirou. Here is indeed a symbolic serie of the 50's and 60's. We find the typical atmosphere of fifities with these districts of Paris there, demolish some years later, still very alive, as well in their aspect social as pictorial. We also find there a representation of post-war rural France, in a vision of the French-style. The line is pure, the scripts humorous, why ask for more ?! To me Gil Jourdan stays as the best european comics of this period.
