Hey muchachos, here're some more pieces of art from Mexico. The artists are known only by their last names: Dorantes, Fzavala, Marin, Luna, Araujo, Pérez, and Ortiz. They aren’t always technically proficient, but what they occasionally lack in draftsmanship they make up for with eye-catching color and a sophisticated sense of composition and narrative. Too soon forgotten, they were also often screwed up by editors about copyrights. And I wonder if it's still the same today...No ? You sure ?

Schwinn Sting-ray - New-old school BMX

Ask any american who grew up between '63 and '75 if he ever heard of the Schwinn Sting-Ray and chances are you'll have an instant conversation starter. Not only do most adults of that era know of the Schwinn Sting-Ray, they also remember what it was like to own one -- or want one.

Introduced in 1963, the original Schwinn Sting-Ray changed the world of bikes forever. By 1968, its design dominated bike sales. In that year alone, 70% of all bikes sold in America were either Sting-Rays or Sting-Ray knock-offs. Like most great product ideas, the original Sting-Ray was born from the streets. In the early '60s, muscle cars and motorbikes were all the rage. Kids on the West Coast picked up on this trend, building their own "wheels" from used bike frames retrofitted with customized parts. West Coast kids were especially into dragster embellishments like "Ape Hanger" handlebars and low-rider banana seats. Also look at this already cult-movie. And the new Sting-ray version by Schwinn.

1967, the year of love - A book to remember

" 1967 the Year of the love " is signed Fabrice Drouelle and Frédéric Lecomte under Gilles Verlant direction: splendidly illustrated, he tells the incredible explosion of creativity of year 1967, in particular of the musical side, with Beatles - it is the year of "Sgt. Pepper's", as well as the psychedelic groups of San Francisco or Velvet Underground in New York. But that explodes also everywhere: TV, comic strip, graphics, cinema, fashion... peace and love !

Evel Knievel - Toy industry

Robert Craig Knievel is born on Oct. 17, 1938, in Butte, Mont. The name Evel Knievel comes about when a prison guard joked that he had local gangsters "Awful Knoffel" and "Evil Knievel" in his jail at the same time. Knievel likes the sound of the name "Evil" and adopts it. He later changes the spelling to Evel to avoid upsetting religious fans. In 1965, in attempt to attract locals in Butte, Mont. to his motorcycle dealership, Knievel jumps and clears a mountain lion but lands on a box of rattlesnakes. In 1977, he goes Hollywood, playing himself in the theatrical feature Viva Knievel!, a fictional action picture in which villains attempt to have the daredevil killed in Mexico so they can use his truck to smuggle drugs into the United States. In 1978 Knievel is credited with re-vitalizing the poorly performing toy industry in the '70s after Evel Knievel toys, as well as such other products as pinball machines, bicycles, watches, radios and other accessory items, draw more than $300 million in sales.

Zanini - Hats off

Marcel Zanini, born in Turkey in 1923, is a great musician who, thanks to a success song in 1969 and a little hat, became famous overnight with a million records sold! This popularity shall not make forget his long career as a Jazzman. Worldwide known, he lives in New York between 1954 and 1958 and meets there: Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Art Tatum, etc. Saint Germain des Prés is the quintessence of his style: a jazz sung with swing and good mood!
He is Marc-Edouard Nabe's father. A writer who has balls but doesn't wear a hat.
