Here're the photographs from "L'art de nager le Crawl" published in France in 1931. Pix were taken in 1929 at the Piscine Molitor in Paris when Johnny assisted to the grand openning of that famous parisian place (doors closed in 1989).
You gave me serious flashbacks with this post. I grew up on Tarzan. Non-pay TV in Philly in the early 80s played Tarzan after the horror movies (nasty stuff direct from the grindhouse, which scarred me for life), kung-fu, and godzilla. So I'd watch Tarzan while eating dinner.
Wound up here via Losfeld, and I'm very glad to discover your blog and your Motorhead cakes.
